As long as both trainers agree on the battle format, it should be fine. Though it might be more difficult to request for official matches against Gym leaders, or the Elite Four.

I'm not too worried about 'elite' anyone right now. I've gotten kicked out of the last couple Gyms I tried go against.

I never raised one before, but I know Mareeps are a good early electric type.

Not all of them do. My starter is a Luxray, and he's never had a static-y coat. From what I read, it's the Pokemon that have the Static ability that do that rather than all electric-types.

It usually takes at least a month or two to reach the levels necessary to defeat the weakest Gym leaders. Perhaps they were worried for your Pokémon's health.

Dunno about the programming bit, but he's definitely into technology. He'll get so absorbed into taking stuff apart or building stuff or whatever and forget to eat sometimes.

I guess so. i never had a pet of my own before, but i also neever liked reading when i was younger, so it was proabably a good thing.

Yeah, and their evolution forms are pretty good, too. I think they can learn the elemental punches from TMs, too.
