That depends on the gym leader, really, but most seem to take it in stride, in my experience.

As for whether breeders need them, you do in order to use certain HM moves outside of battles, and if you defeat all eight, you receive a ticket for a cruise ship.

...oops I just realized he said 8 in the last comment that should've been 16! >_<

Yes. I believe it's a three week cruise, and the ticket is reusable.

They'll not be happy about it, especially their more competitive members, but they'll not hate you. And while you have no need for the badges themselves, the TMs and money that come with them are quite worth the effort.

Even a decent payout is less memorable than the knowledge that you've defeated one of the most well-known trainers in the land. But I've no doubt it was useful to you as you travelled, even if you forgot its source.

I don't think they would mind too much... and I don't think we do need badges. I taught Feather to Fly, and she was able to take me places.

I think you'd do very well.

Oh... she's my Pidgeotto.

Mm. Especially if they're so high-leveled... What is your team for the first gym?

Why would anyone, be they breeder or trainer, not seek to face every challenge the world offers?

[In other words, even if he doesn't need the badges, Gundam thinks he should go for it.]

Why not challenge everything? Otherwise, one would be condemning themselves to a life of mundane mediocrity.

Well, it's not against the RULES or anything

You can definitely march in with a level 100 Charizard, challenge their 'regular' team and then steamroll the shit out of it if you really want to

But they'll probably judge you over it, yeah
